About this policy
Who this notice covers
This is David Gelkin’s personal website. This notice covers this website and its own features. The organisations linked from this site have their own privacy notices.
Information you provide
The contact form sends your name, email address, enquiry category and message to the website server and forwards them to the site owner’s inbox. No copy of your enquiry is saved in a website database. Your entries remain in the open page if sending fails; they are cleared after a successful submission. The website does not accept file attachments.
Website usage and hosting
This website is hosted by Hostinger. Hostinger’s website hosting and email services process requests and correspondence to deliver the site and enquiries. Cloudflare Turnstile provides the contact form’s anti-spam check and processes technical browser information for that purpose. See the Hostinger privacy policy and Cloudflare privacy policy.
Optional analytics is described below; no advertising trackers are installed. The form uses a temporary security session and short-lived submission counters based on a keyed hash of the requesting IP address. These counters are used to limit abuse; raw IP addresses and message contents are not stored in the counter file. Hosting and email providers may separately keep their own technical records.
How information is used and shared
Enquiries are used to respond to your request and manage related correspondence. The lawful basis is the legitimate interest in responding to professional enquiries and protecting the service against abuse. Hostinger processes correspondence for email delivery and mailbox operation. Turnstile checks are used for security. Enquiries are not automatically distributed to the ventures featured here. This website does not implement marketing profiling or automated decisions about visitors.
External websites
Links to company sites, registers, social profiles, Amazon and event listings take you to third-party services. Their privacy notices and cookie settings apply when you visit them. Information you provide there is handled by those services.
Retention and security
The website does not store enquiry messages in a database. IP-based submission counters cover a rolling hour; the separate site-wide sending counter covers a rolling 24 hours. Expired entries are removed on the next request. The form session cookie expires when the browser session ends; server sessions are removed according to the hosting configuration. Hosting and email providers describe their handling of technical records in their own privacy notices.
Enquiry emails are held for as long as needed to respond and manage related correspondence, subject to applicable record-keeping requirements. Avoid sending sensitive personal or financial information in an initial enquiry.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the processing and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, request portability, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
You may also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Requests concerning hosting or account information should be directed to the relevant service provider using its privacy contact route.
Questions and complaints
For privacy questions or rights requests, use the contact form and identify your request in the message. Requests concerning provider-held information can also be directed to the relevant provider. You can raise a data-protection concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
Optional analytics
On the production website, Google Analytics is used only if you select Accept analytics. It helps measure page visits and interactions, including enquiries accepted by the sending service. The website does not send your name, email address or enquiry text to Analytics. Google processes usage and technical information under its privacy policy. Analytics is disabled on staging.
You can reject analytics or change your choice using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. Your choice is stored in this browser for up to 180 days. Analytics cookies are configured to expire after up to 180 days, refreshed by activity. Rejecting analytics does not prevent enquiries.
Changes to this notice
This notice will be reviewed when website features or data handling change. Any introduction of analytics, subscriptions or other processing will require updated information and appropriate controls.
